Do you take the crookeds with the straights?
Or do you step aside as to not tempt fate
Sometimes life will let you chose
Othertimes you might just be forced to play and lose
When that happens and you really want out
Shut the hell up, go, and don't pout
Take what you can, show no remorse
Make friends, make enemies, there's no prize for a good sport
And most of all
don't be afraid to kick back
watch the world crumble and stare and laugh
Life can throw more cruelty
and even more kindness at you
than just what you get dealt that day

reading, reading, reading
discussing, discussing, discussing
reading, writing, discussing
books.
And by all this; learning, learning, learning
I go to the library to study
and grow
alone
and maybe just to pass the time by
with friends
I might just feel like sitting here and watching others
silently, they too read
and learn
good
Because a library is a place of all sorts
of tranquility and peace
for children and adults
and now also
teens

a friend?
and more than simply just
another acquaintance
another
drinking buddy?
more
classmates and officemates and maybe even nursing-home-mates?
professional associates
teammates even?
yea, i'm sure that these parts
do add up with the whole
but when it comes down to it
anyone can make another acquaintance
'anyone' indeed
even the best acquaintances (just acquaintances)
can't step in to fill the gap that belongs
to a real friend

so why is it so hard
to find a true friend

someone you can trust

just something that
is just within your reach
although to reach it may take your life
Here in America
people dream big
be it
a chicken for every pot (people forget about the car in the garage)
or 40 acres and a mule
a Hawaii home
People have navigated oceans
Crossed deserts
Slaved wilderness
and fought wars
for this land of dreams
The American Dream
A dream for one's family and future
or
a dream for everyone (of every color, gender or age)
(he who boldly said 'I have a dream' -
he made his dream come true)
So if that is a dream
